Most traditional airguns use a spring and piston system to provide the air source for the pellet, but this model of BSA Lightning XL features a Gas Ram system which offers a lot of benefits. These include better consistency, high velocity, and prolonged life as the Gas Ram doesn't degrade over time like a spring can fatigue.
The stock of the rifle is made by Minelli in Italy to a very high grade which ensures it has a comfortable feel and appearance making it a rifle that you really want to hold and shoot. The checkering on the stock is to the forestock and pistol grip, the areas where maximum grip is required. A rubber butt pad is installed to the rear of the stock to minimise felt recoil to the shoulder.
The barrel is made in the BSA factory in Birmingham through a cold hammer forging process which maximises accuracy and consistency. This barrel is then covered by a metal shroud which offers sound suppression as well as a solid base for cocking and loading. Additionally, this shroud has a ½inch UNF thread to allow the fitting of an additional moderator.
All these features add up to a very hard wearing and accurate air rifle making the BSA Lightning XL GRT SE a superb value for money Gas Ram air rifle currently around. Scope and mounts not included.
