Originating in Africa, this Sjambok was a thick riding crop that doubled as whip and, thanks to its speed and power, built a reputation as one of the best defences against snakes and other dangerous animals. Unlike conventional western whips, the Sjamboks of the time were not made from thin strips of leather but rather a thick piece of hippopotamus hide that is swung more like a rod or stick.
Nowadays hippopotamus hide is not commercially viable to come by so Cold Steel uses an injection moulded polypropylene for their synthetic version of this classic weapon. Featuring a comfortable Kraton handle that is designed to represent braided leather, but is immune from all the problems leather can have such as shrinking and cracking, this whip offers a secure grip and is easily lashed to a belt or rucksack with its faux leather strapping.
Available in both 42" and 54"
